The Jan Juc Cricket Club was born after a few mates at the Torquay Golf Club decided it would be good fun to have a hit of cricket together. They entered a side in the Geelong & Southern Districts Cricket Association (GSDCA) C-Grade competition back in 1981/82. They won the premiership. The next season they were promoted to B-Grade where they also won the premiership. In 1984/85 Jan Juc was in its first A-Grade Grand Final. Unfortunately, Anglesea were too strong for us on the day.

25 years later, the Jan Juc Cricket Club fields four senior sides (A-D Grade) and junior sides in the age groups of U/11, U/13 and U/15. Next season we will have U/17 as well. The senior teams are affiliated with the Bellarine & Peninsula Cricket Association (BPCA). The BPCA is widely regarded as the best hard wicket cricket competition in the Barwon Region. Most games are played over two Saturdays with the odd one-day game and Sat/Sun game fixtured. The D-Grade competition is one-day games only. Many veterans of the game compete in D-Grade. The junior teams are affiliated with the Geelong Cricket Association (GCA) but all Bellarine teams are placed in the same division; in effect creating the BPCA's own junior competitions.

Our ground is located at Bob Pettit Reserve (E2), Sunset Strip Jan Juc. Recently the Surfcoast Shire built a large extension on the existing facility and we now enjoy outstanding clubrooms overllooking the ground. Our centre wicket has just been resurfaced and this Winter we plan to upgrade our nets and training facility.

Our coach and A-Grade captain is Aaron Muncey. Aaron has been an outstanding cricketer over many years. He played all his junior cricket with Jan Juc and played in our first A-Grade premiership after returning from many years of GCA Division 1 cricket.

Darren Fox is the junior coordinator and has also played with Jan Juc for over 25 years. He is the all time leading wicket taker at the club, of which close to 400 of those wickets were taken at the A-Grade level. His wealth of experience and cricketing ethos allow our kids to enjoy the game first and foremost, but also allow kids of all skill levels to develop technique and motor skills.
